We live in an era where all the classic movies and TV shows that my generation grew up, are being “re-made,” “re-booted,” or “re-imagined.”
And yet another ’80’s hit from the small screen is making a comeback.
Prepare yourselves, for the return of… “MacGyver!”
That’s right, the man who could disarm a nuclear device, using a paper clip, shoelace and package of Kool-Aid mix is returning to TV screens, with a new face as the title character.
Lucas Till, probably best known for his role as Alex Summers/Havok, in the “X-Men” movies, will be playing MacGyver in the reboot of the series, which originally ran from 1985 to 1992.
Richard Dean Anderson originated the role of Angus (yes, he had a first name!) MacGyver, a science whiz, who worked for a secret government agency, and didn’t care for violence, hated carrying a gun, and preferred to save the world and get himself out of jams, by making things out of ordinary objects, with the help of his trusty Swiss Army Knife.
You gotta figure the original will make an appearance at some point, for the official passing of the torch!
I’m not much for the remakes, but I could probably be talked into giving this one a chance!
It also makes me wonder… If “MacGyver” can make a comeback, could another ’80’s classic, “Airwolf,” be far behind?
