Let me start by saying i’m not a big fan of country music…to each their own, but my wife is…mostly
The Dauphin Countryfest was held over the weekend and i had scored some free passes. My wife Di is a fan of Lady Antebellum and they were headlining Saturday night. So we hop in the car for a quick three hour drive and we were there
The venue is quite amazing! A natural amphitheater with a top notch permanent stage. The sound was great! As we made our way thru the crowd to find some seats, the excitement was evident. As the headliners took to the stage the place was packed to capacity and everyone was on their feet going wild
to be honest i only knew one song by the Nashville trio – but as it turned out i knew more lol they did a couple of covers (landslide, take it easy) that i could sing along too. My wife on the other hand knew most of their song list and was joining everyone else at singing as loud as she could : )
A couple of observations: most of the crowd around us was well behaved and EVERYONE knew the words to every song!
I’d love to go back if there are some artists that even I – a non country fan – could recognize. or i might have to get my Wife to translate for me : )
BTW – this is probably the only concert that we’ve attended where she knew more of the songs than i did! A refreshing change of pace for sure : )
