i’ve been living with Type 2 diabetes for a couple of years now. I find i can manage it effectively thru medication, diet and plenty of exercise. But apparently, when it comes to having a cold/flu i have to pay a little more attention to what over the counter remedy i use.
Now i don’t catch a cold or the flu but this past week i had to do something to combat a sore throat/chest rattle/runny nose you know the symptoms. So off to the local pharmacy to grab some over the counter remedies. I ended up with Benlyn plus cough syrup and tablets. Got home in the aft took the required dosage and had a nap. Felt a little better when i got up. Next morning, took another dose of the goods and headed into work.
But a few hours later i was feeling a little edgy, a little sweaty (ew). it got worse as the morning went on. So i figured i’d talk with a pharmacist about it. Turns out, i if take the cough syrup and the cold tabs at the same time i can be putting myself at risk of heart palpitations (yep) and dangerously low glucose levels (been there).
So now i’m watching (again) what i put in my diabetic body lol
Talk to your pharmacist or doctor…that’s what they are there for and it could save your live : )
