i do a lot of highway driving.
On Monday aft, the roads conditions were typical winter driving conditions (snow packed, swirling snow, reduced visibility) and i found myself behind two semis and another car. I realized that with the swirling snow i wouldn’t be able to pass any of the vehicles safely so i put on my emergency blinkers (so they other motorists could see me) and tagged along. Then i noticed this other car behind me and he was going to pass or attempt to pass. I stopped the emergency blinkers and tapped on my brakes to let them know that it wasn’t an opportune time to pass. I thought he got the hint because he backed off a little.
As we were coming around a DOUBLE LINED curve, this person behind me decides to pull out and attempt to pass me…and sure enough another vehicle is approaching on the other side of the road. I had already started to slow down when this person cuts back in front of me – no signals no warning – i did my best to get out of his way but with the shoulders slippery and visiblity not the greatest, my truck did lose a little traction and the back end got a little squirrley – scary : (
What really gave me a chill was the fact that as this car was cutting me off and before i almost had a date with the ditch…i caught a glimpse of two children in car seats in the back seat of his car.
Please take care on the highways esp this time of year…if not just for yourself and your family but for others on the road who may not : )
