Pretty intense start to the day, I went down the energy drink route rather than a morning coffee, which we’ll get back to later; right now here is a link for your viewing pleasure:
It’s pretty well known that I like to solve Rubik’s cubes and other puzzle in my spare time, it’s not magic or anything, just a series of steps and patterns to follow. I downplay my skill at solving Rubik’s cubes because there are kids out there that can literally solve one of these in 5 seconds, where I can’t even solve one in a minute. But as you are my witness, I’m going to practice and practice until I can hit that 60 second mark.
Now on to Lorde:
2017 was a heck of a year for Lorde, and it has been capped off with a Grammy nomination for best album of the year. Which I know she will win. because of this baller album right here:
That’s Melodrama. My official favourite pop album of 2017. It was the soundtrack to my summer, every road trip I took, every major decision I’ve made, Lorde had my back. Now I’m not up to date on the latest celebrity gossip, and I certainly didn’t know how rabid Lorde’s fan base is (The only other big Lorde fan on Fox FM is Chris Ash and he and I have definitely had some carpool karaoke to Lorde..) so when I saw twitter user Nina Richard hung a copy of Melodrama at the Louvre in Paris, well, I had to applaud the effort.
If you’re wondering, there is a track on Melodrama titled “The Louvre” where she sings:
But we’re the greatest
They’ll hang us in the Louvre
Down the back, but who cares – still the Louvre
There is no mention of a young Lorde superfan getting tackled by security in the song.
Super Hero Movie time!
Justice league has been in theatres for what, three weeks? We’re already moving on. Come on guys, we get ten superhero movies a year now from the likes of Marvel and DC, gotta switch tracks on the hype train!
The newest entry of course is the next Avengers movie, titled Infinity War. I know what you’re thinking “Oh Nik you always talk about super hero fatigue and how you want something new” but this time….I’m excited for the new Avengers. It’s not that weird, let me explain.
The first Avengers movie was an event, the first time something like this ever happened in Hollywood: a bunch of movies establishing a single universe only to culminate with a colossal team up movie. I think a lot of people forget how crazy it was that the first Avengers movie worked, and I’ve got a little bit of nostalgia blindness, sure, but the Avengers was a special event, and I’m thinking this new one will be the same, the next destination in a long journey kind of thing.
(Oh, about the energy drink thing, maybe I’m trying to get super powers from too much caffeine..is that a thing?)
