I love live music.
There are few things better, than going to a show, getting that adrenaline rush from that combination of the music and the crowd.
I’ve been pretty lucky over the years, in that I’ve been able to see pretty much all of my favourites over the years.
I’ve seen the Rolling Stones and Metallica four times apiece, and Oasis twice (before they split up!)
I’ve seen numerous other artists, ranging from Sam Roberts, Snoop Dogg, and Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, to Tool, Rihanna, and B.B. King, to the Bros. Landreth and Tony Bennett.
And I’m always up to check out new (to me) artists, as well.
While I was off for a couple of weeks, I was able to check out a couple of shows in Saskatoon.
First, at the Bassment, me, and two of my brothers and their wives saw Wil & Co., based out of B.C.. Wil is a fantastic singer and acoustic guitarist, accompanied by drummer Keith Gallant.
Wil is a fantastic guitarist, with an excellent voice. They played some excellent original tunes, and did a killer rendition of The Tragically Hip’s “Bobcaygeon”
As if that wasn’t enough, a couple of night’s later, me, my parents and my brother Barrett and his new wife Claudia, went to see Godsmack, with I Prevail and Flat Black, at SaskTel Centre.
We didn’t get there in time for Flat Black, but we did get to see I Prevail, who were pretty decent.
But we were really there for Godsmack – even my parents. It was my Dad’s birthday, and he’s a big Godsmack fan!
It was my third time seeing Godsmack, and they never disappoint!
The great thing about live music is that a really good show makes you want to do it again, and I look forward to many more great concerts to come.
My next show coming up? Tom Cochrane, at the Anne Portnuff Theatre on November 28th. Make sure you get your tickets – it’s going to be a great show!
