I’ve been part of the Fox FM Universe since 2006, when I started off as the reporter in our newsroom, and reading the afternoon news on Fox FM (when we still used to have that, back in the day).
And when I moved to the Fox FM morning show full-time, back in November of 2011, I took up residence at the Fox FM News Desk.
Over the years, I’ve brought in a few things over the years, to personalize my little corner of the office. I though I’d give you all a bit of a tour!
Of course, there’s my Tennessee Titans flag, along with a lanyard commemorating the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ final season at old Mosaic Stadium.
Watching over my desk is the greatest mascot in pro sports history (though I admit, I may be a bit biased), the living embodiment of chaos, clad in Orange and Black, the one and only Gritty!
A few years ago, Ducks Unlimited had a media barbecue sauce challenge, and Fox FM claimed back to back titles, including in 2017.
Being a music fan, I have a copy of Billy Joel’s “The Stranger” on CD, because you never know when you might need one! (It was a gift from a former co-worker. And a memento of the greatest song by a fictional character, Kirk Van Houten’s “Can I Borrow a Feeling?”
As a wrestling fan, I celebrate Canada’s greatest-ever performer in the squared circle, Calgary’s own Bret “Hitman” Hart!
I’m a movie fan, and especially enjoy classic 80’s slasher films, including the iconic trio of Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers.
I got this cool little cat from one of my former co-hosts, and it has never stopped waving in all the years that I’ve had it perched on my desk!
And finally, a thank-you card from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, after we sent Harry and Meghan a slightly-used French press as a wedding gift in 2018.
I’m going to go out on a limb, and assume they ended it up donating it to a goodwill organization. But I like to think they liked it so much, that they took it with them, when they made the big move to the States, and now, they enjoy their Sunday morning cuppa with some coffee made in our French press!
I have some other items adorning my desk, including a lightsabre (because, of course!), as well as a googly-eyed rock, a poop emoji pillow, more Flyers swag, a commemorative coin celebrating the Raptors’ 2019 NBA title, and a picture of my family (which never fails to cheer me up when I need it most.)
