I Caught Food Poisoning. Here’s Some Tips on How to Deal With It.

Food poisoning SUCKS. I caught a mild case of it over the weekend and while I’m finally feeling better, suffering through it is a nightmare. So here’s some tips on how to deal with it!

  1. Identify the Symptoms:
    Recognize symptoms like nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, fever, and malaise.
  2. Stay Hydrated:
    Prevent dehydration by drinking small sips of clear fluids like water, herbal tea, or electrolyte-rich beverages like Gatorade. Avoid caffeine and carbonated drinks.
  3. Rest and Allow Your Body to Heal:
    Rest helps a ton. Avoid strenuous activities and give your body time to heal.
  4. Follow the BRAT Diet:
    Gradually reintroduce bland and easily digestible foods like bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. As you improve, add boiled chicken, steamed vegetables, and yogurt.
  5. Avoid Certain Foods and Substances:
    Avoid spicy, greasy, acidic, and fried foods, as well as alcohol and caffeine. Focus on mild, nutrient-rich foods that won’t upset your stomach.
  6. Probiotics and Digestive Enzymes:
    Consider using probiotics and digestive enzymes to restore gut health. Probiotics can be found in supplements or fermented foods, and even yogurt. Digestive enzymes are available as supplements or in pineapple.

I tried my best following these tips to help, especially drinking electrolytes, resting, and avoiding certain foods. Thankfully I feel better! That is, until I get this again next time.
