TERRIERS 5, MILLIONAIRES 2

The Yorkton Terriers completed the 2 game long-weekend sweep of their Highway 10 rivals after a 5-2 victory over the Melville Millionaires on Monday afternoon in front of over 1600 fans at the CN Community Center.

Jye Zawatsky began his big afternoon opening the scoring just over 9 minutes into the 1st period short-handed as he won a foot race with Colby Ball then slid it past Ethan Rau to give the visitors the early 1-0 lead.

Anthony Domina just 3:42 later made it 2-0 banging home a powerplay goal to give the Terriers the lead through one period.

In the 2nd, Caden Drury cut the Mils deficit in half as he banged home a rebound off a Colby Ball point shot for his 7th of the campaign to make it 2-1 but Quintin Unreiner regained Yorkton’s two goal lead with another powerplay goal to take a 3-1 lead into the 2nd intermission.

Just 16 seconds into the third, the Terriers added some insurance as Jye Zawatsky found David Coyle wide-open in front and he tucked home his team-leading 17th of the season to make it a 4-1 game.

Euan Morrison got the Millionaires back within two with 3:50 to go, but an empty-netter and 2nd of the night from Zawatsky just 30 seconds later to ice the game.

Ethan Farrow won his 2nd straight start making 29 saves on 31 shots in the Terriers’ goal, while Melville netminder made 28 stops in the losing cause.
