It was a busy Saturday for me.
In the morning, I was covering the newsroom for our sister station, GX94, but after I got off work, I didn’t feel like sitting around home all night, so I figured what better to do on a Saturday night, than go and watch a little hockey!
I’ve been to a few Terrier games this season, but I hadn’t had the chance to get to Melville and watch the Millionaires in action. So, I figured I’d remedy that, and take a drive down Highway 10.
It had been a while since I’d been there to take in the Mils live, and I’d forgotten what a nice barn the Mils get to call home.
The Mils were squaring off against the visiting Weyburn Red Wings, and the home side got off to a great start, scoring just over a minute in, and they were off and running.
The Mils were up 2-1 after 20 minutes, and led 5-2, after the second period.
And of course, you can’t have a true hockey game without the two teams exchanging a few pleasantries!
In the end, the good guys came out on top!
The Millionaires sent the crowd of more than 750 home happy, beating Weyburn, 6-2.
I had a great time, picked myself up a Mils shirt, and headed for home.
The only thing I didn’t do is pick myself up some poutine – a friend said they make some fantastic poutine in Melville, so I’ll put it to the top of my to-do list for the next game I go to.
And I plan to do that very soon!
Thanks for the hospitalilty, and Go Mils Go!!!
