NORTH STARS 2, BOMBERS 6

Anthony Piccininno had 1 goal & 2 helpers to lead the Flin Flon Bombers to a convincing 6-2 win over the Battlefords North Stars in Game 2 of their SJHL Semi-Final from the Whitney Forum in Flin Flon.

Tyson Smith, Keefe Gruener, Anthony Bax, Justin Lies and Adam McNutt also scored for the Bombers who got 32 stops from SJHL Goalie of the Year Harmon Laser-Hume in the win.

Ben Portner and SJHL MVP Kian Bell replied with the goals for Battlefords.

The series shifts back to North Battleford for Games 3 & 4 on Monday and Tuesday.

BRONCOS 3, MUSTANGS 4

The Humboldt Broncos saw a 3-1 lead evaporate as they fell 4-3 to the Melfort Mustangs on Friday night to now trail the Best of 7 Semi-Final, 2 games to 0.

Mathew Van-Blaircom, Spencer Bell & Maddox Amaral helped the Broncos to their lead sandwiched between two markers from Mustangs D Chase Friedt-Mohr to make it 3-2 Humboldt after 2 period.

Ryan Duguay sealed the comeback with 2 goals just twenty-four seconds apart in the 3rd to help the Mustangs to the victory.

Mustangs’ G James Venne turned aside 36/39 shots in the win while Benjamin Motew made 37 saves in the loss.

The two teams will play Games 3 and 4 on their series in Humboldt on Tuesday & Wednesday night.
