Road teams strike first in MJHL Semi-Finals

OIL CAPITALS 4, FLYERS 0

Eric Reid earned the 22 save shutout as the Virden Oil Capitals struck first in their MJHL Semi-Final on Friday night with a 4-0 win over the Winkler Flyers.

Nolan Chastko, Evan Groening, Grady Lane and Layton Veitch scored for the Oil Capitals.

Virden will host Game 2 on Sunday night.


BLIZZARD 2, PISTONS 1

After scoring the game winner in overtime just two nights earlier, Riley See once again provided heroics for The Blizzard.

See’s game winner with 57 seconds left helped the visitors to a 2-1 Game 1 win over the Steinbach Pistons in the MJHL Semi-Finals.

Emillien Charron opened the scoring for the Blizzard in the 1st, before Parker Jasper tied it with 3:31 left in regulation.

MJHL Goalie of the Year Tomas Anderson was solid making 41 saves in the win while Pistons netminder Cole Plowman made 21 stops in the loss.

Game 2 is set for La Broquerie for Saturday night at 7:00PM MB time.
