April 8th Melville City Council Update

Paving & Walking Trail Rehabilitation and Sidewalk Installation projects are among the 6 capital projects to be undertaken in the City of Melville over the next number of months using money from Canada Community Build Funds.

When the 2024 City of Melville Budget was presented a plan was provided to utilize approximately $1.2 million of Canada Community Building Funds (formerly Gas Tax) to complete eight capital projects.

But City Manager Jolene Tuchsherer says bids for these projects came in higher than budgeted so we they had to reassess the work that can be completed fiscally.

“Administration is recommending that Council remove the Sewer Relining and Floodgate projects from the 2024 projects. The sewer relining program is one that we want to start back doing, but unfortunately this will have to wait and be budgeted in the 2025 capital budget. For the floodgate project Environmental Manager Ellert has begun developing a plan for this project and will provide a business case also for the 2025 budget.”
