Happy National Volunteer Week!

Happy National Volunteer Week! This week is all about recognizing and celebrating the incredible contributions of volunteers who give their time and energy to make a difference in their communities and the world.

Volunteering is such a special and important act of kindness. It allows us to connect with others, learn new skills, and make a positive impact on the world around us. Whether it’s volunteering at the local hockey or football game, tutoring students, or cleaning up a local park, every act of volunteering helps to build stronger, more compassionate communities.

If you’re looking for ways to get involved this National Volunteer Week, consider reaching out to local organizations or charities in your area to see how you can help. Whether it’s through donating your time, money, or resources, there are countless ways to make a positive impact and give back to those in need. There’s a multitude of sports organizations and non-profits around the area who could always use some help. Let’s not forget: without volunteers, some of these organizations wouldn’t be able to do what they do.

After realizing that this is National Volunteer Week, I looked back and was thinking “what have I been volunteering with lately?” And here’s just a few things recently!

  • Emcee the Yorkton Chamber’s Celebrate Success Business Awards
  • Emcee the Easter Seals Snowarama
  • Drove to Swan River for the Amara’s Amigos Stampeders Game to present a cheque and speech
  • The Yorkton Exhibition Summer Fair Front Gate as a ticket guy
  • A few community parades

…And some more I cannot think of off the top of my head! I don’t get paid to do any of this stuff, and they’re well outside my working hours, mainly on weekends too. It’s just something that I enjoy doing. It makes you feel good about yourself and you also connect with the community. It allows you to meet some new amazing people and get a deeper understanding of the community and organization when you volunteer. So if you can volunteer, do it!
