Lightly Salted Chips: Worth It? First Try Review

If you are a chip lover like me, there’s a thousand different flavours to choose from. One I always overlook are the lightly salted ones. They just look plane jane to me honestly, and why not just go with original? Well, I just recently tried Ruffles’ lightly salted chips and was pleasantly surprised! But why choose the lightly salted version?

First and foremost, reducing your salt intake can have a positive impact on your overall health. Consuming too much salt has been linked to high blood pressure, heart disease, and other health problems. By choosing lightly salted chips, you can enjoy the same satisfying crunch without going overboard on sodium.

In addition to being better for your health, lightly salted chips can also be a great option for those looking to watch their weight. The extra salt in regular chips can lead to bloating and water retention, making you feel heavier than you actually are. By choosing the lightly salted variety, you can enjoy a lighter snack that won’t leave you feeling sluggish or weighed down.

Another benefit of choosing lightly salted chips is that they can actually enhance the natural flavors of the chip itself. When chips are heavily salted, it can be easy to overpower the taste of the potato or corn base. By opting for lightly salted chips, you can enjoy a more balanced flavor profile that allows the true essence of the chip to shine through. This is what I’ve noticed a lot. More of that “potatoey” flavour, and I loved it! Plus my mouth didn’t burn from all that salt.

One flavour of lightly salted chips I’ve been looking for are Ms. Vickie’s. The original Ms. Vickie said that after Frito-Lay bought them out, the recipe has changed. However, the lightly salted version is the closest tasting to the original recipe, which I would love to try out.
