For the 2nd straight year a Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League squad has come up short in the National Junior A Final.
A second-period goal by Jack Silverman was all the offence the Collingwood Blues needed to post a 1-0 victory over the Melfort Mustangs in Sunday’s Centennial Cup championship final in Oakville, ON.
“We left it all out there, we have a special group in there and they worked hard today. They did all they could and super proud of how they played,” said Mustangs head coach and GM Trevor Blevins.
Noah Pak turned aside all 23 shots he faced on the way to Collingwood’s first national title while Mustangs netminder James Venne was also solid in goal for the Mustangs as he stopped 35 of 36 shots.
