A big sigh of relief for Reader!

Hey, everybody! Reader here, and I want to tell you about one of the smartest purchases I’ve ever made.

It’s nothing big. Not a vehicle, or a piece of property. Something much smaller.

A screen protector.

For a long time, I was never a big believer in screen protectors, as thought they weren’t something that was all that necessary, as I was sort of skeptical, as far as how much protection they actually provided.

Not that I’ve never used them, but for the most part, my phones have remained in pretty good shape overall.

Over the years, I’ve dropped my phones numerous times, and for the most part, they’ve come out unscathed, save for the odd little crack or chip here or there.

That was, until yesterday.

As you know, I was on location at the Credit Union in Churchbridge yesterday, for their Community Appreciation Days. (Thanks again to the great folks there for having me, by the way!) After I wrapped up my on-air duties at 6 p.m., I got all my gear packed up, and stopped to enjoy some tasty hot dogs before I hit the road back to Yorkton.

While I was eating, I was scrolling my phone, as one does, and when I finished, I got up to wash my hands before leaving, and my phone flew out of my hands.

I had to watch helplessly, as it clattered onto the asphalt parking lot.

When I first picked it up, at first glance it looked okay, but when I looked along the left side of my phone, I saw the damage.

Yikes.

Gouges, and a spiderweb of cracks from the top to the bottom of the screen.

I was afraid to see what the screen would look like when I took off the screen protector.

This afternoon, I did just that. And the phone itself? It was fine. The screen was pristine, and looked brand-new!

The screen protector, on the other hand? Not so much…

Thank you, screen protector… you did your job well!

I will never question the usefulness of a screen protector ever again!

I breathed a HUGE sigh of relief, as was envisioning a costly screen replacement, or having to tough it out for a few months with a busted phone until I could get a new one at the end of my contract.

Whew… one less thing to worry about!

In this line of work, we use our phones a lot, especially taking a ton of photos and videos for posting to our socials, websites, etc., and having to do that work with a busted screen did not appeal to me in the slightest!

Luckily, the crisis was averted!

So, after my lucky break (pardon the pun), again, I encourage you to get that screen protector, and potentially save yourselves a few bucks in costly repairs down the line!
