Woman Declared Dead Discovered Alive at Funeral Home

A 74-year-old woman in Nebraska, Constance Glantz, was mistakenly declared dead at a nursing home near Lincoln. After being transferred to a funeral home, staff noticed she was still breathing about two hours later and performed CPR. She was then taken to the hospital but was declared dead again. Authorities are investigating but found no criminal intent by the nursing home. A coroner wasn’t initially involved due to her being in hospice care. Chief Deputy Ben Houchin noted the rarity of the case and praised the funeral home for their quick response. Similar incidents highlight that death can sometimes be mistakenly diagnosed without thorough examination.
