Tooth Hurts: Dentist Nabbed for Burrito Battery

Things got spicy when Dr. Esha Persad, a 34-year-old dentist, decided to celebrate her husband’s birthday with a fiesta of fast food – Taco Bell and McDonald’s, according to court records.

The beef began to sizzle, and in the heat of the moment, Persad allegedly “tossed a soft shell taco” at her 35-year-old birthday boy. This taco, hot off the grill, found its mark on the man’s right cheek, leaving him with some food for thought, according to the police report.

When the cops arrived at the couple’s St. Petersburg home, they found the evidence right where it landed – the burrito was still clinging to the victim’s face. Now, it’s unclear why the arrest report flips between calling the Mexican missile a taco and a burrito, but we can only assume the investigator was having a hard time wrapping their head around the tortilla terminology.

Despite the taco attack, the victim, married to Persad for five years, reported he was not injured by the fast food flinger.

After being Mirandized, Persad claimed she “threw a burrito at the victim after he tossed a bag at her,” a claim the man flat-out denied. Talk about a real he-said, she-said salsa situation.

Persad was cuffed for domestic battery, a misdemeanor, and got a one-way ticket to the county jail. Fortunately, she didn’t have to shell out too much, as she was released on her own recognizance.

The couple, who splurged $535,000 on their Florida home last year, must have been hoping for a more peaceful slice of the American dream. Dr. Persad, originally from Bangalore, India, holds dental licenses in Florida and South Carolina, where the couple previously resided. Here’s hoping their next celebration involves fewer food fights and more cake.
