Melville Millionaires give up 3rd period lead in road defeat to league-leading Red Wings

The Melville Millionaires gave up four third-period goals en route to a 4-3 defeat on the road to the Weyburn Red Wings on Monday afternoon.

The Millionaires got off to a quick start with two quick goals in the first period by Caden Drury and Ryan Roethke to go up 2-0 and that score remained after 40 minutes.

The Red Wings took over the game in the first half of the third period with four goals off the sticks of Blake Betson, Cyprus Smith-Davis, Jerome Maharaj and Josh Karman to go up by two.

Cadey Drury added his second of the night and third point late in the third with 1:12 remaining, but that’s as close as they would get.

Red Wings goalie Angelo Zol made 22 saves on 25 shots to earn the win, while Mils netminder Luke Brunen stopped 28 shots in the loss.

The Millionaires return to action on Friday night visiting the Humboldt Broncos while the Red Wings host the Battlefords North Stars on Friday night.
