The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Yorkton Terriers will retire Ed Zawatsky’s number 14 jersey in a distinguished pregame ceremony this Saturday at the Westland Insurance Arena.
This significant event will take place as the Terriers welcome the La Ronge Ice Wolves.
Zawatsky is being celebrated not only for his record-setting achievement of scoring the most points in a single season by a Terrier in SJHL history but also for his impactful tenure as a coach.
With an impressive 108 goals and 133 assists, accumulating 241 points over 122 games, Ed’s contributions to our organization are truly remarkable.
His 158-point season stands as the ninth highest in SJHL history.
“Ed was a transformative player, driving much of the offense that season and excelling with 60 more points than our next leading scorer,” remarked Grant Ottenbreit, Terrier alumni and current board member.
After an accomplished NCAA career at Colorado College and professional endeavors in the ECHL and Germany, Ed returned to the Terriers, guiding the team to two league titles and an appearance in the 2006 RBC Cup Final as a coach.
Pregame ceremony will be held before the puck drop which is set just after 7:00 PM.
