Are you somebody who has to see every hot new movie or TV show right away?
Or, are you like me, and tend to be a bit behind the curve and see all these shows and movies when you get around them, long after everyone else has seen them?
To be clear, it’s not like I avoid them, in order to be the one person who’s “too cool” to watch things. Often, I mean to watch a new show, but forget about it until after the first few episodes have aired, and by that time, it’s far enough along that I need to get caught up, and it just seems like too much work. Or it’s down to the fact that I simply don’t have all of the 724 different streaming services required to see all of these programs and movies.
When it comes to movies, I have a confession. I’ve never seen “The Godfather,” “Fight Club” or “Pulp Fiction.” Or many other films considered “classics.” I tried watching “Scarface” once, but had to turn it off, as Al Pacino’s accent in his role as Tony Montana was just too much for me. I would have preferred to see late WWE legend Razor Ramon in the role! (Coincidentally, Scott Hall based the whole Razor Ramon character off of Tony Montana. Go figure!)

Even for TV shows, I tend to be behind the curve. I’ve never seen “Breaking Bad,” “Yellowstone,” or “Game of Thrones.” (Regarding “GoT,” it’s not my cup of tea. No interest in it.) Nor have I ever watched “Mad Men,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “The West Wing,” “Succession,” or many other popular programs that seemingly everyone else has seen but me. Maybe someday I’ll get around to it.
Some shows I’ve seen parts of. Over the years, I’ve seen many episodes of “The Sopranos.” I’ve seen a ton of clips from “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” but I’ve actually seen few whole episodes.
And for as much of a “Walking Dead” fan as I am, I’ve hardly seen any of the spinoffs.
But there is one show that I’ve been meaning to watch, that I finally just dipped my toe into.
“Schitt’s Creek.”
Starring SCTV alumni Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy, along with his son Dan Levy and Annie Murphy, “Schitt’s Creek” follows the riches-to-rags story of the Roses, who through a twist of fate, wind up living in the titular town, and adjusting to a new way of life after losing everything.
The pilot episode had me laughing out loud again and again, and I can only imagine what’s in store as the show goes along.
I’m looking forward for what’s to come!
