Yorkton Terriers’ captain Jaron Desnoyers headlines 2024/25 SJHL Award Nominees

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) have announced the finalists for the 2024-25 year-end awards and four members of the Yorkton Terrier are up for league awards.

Terriers captain Jaron Desnoyers leads the way as he’s up for both Most Valuable and the league’s Top Forward.

The Parkland County, Alberta product is having a career year currently leading the SJHL in scoring with 67 points in 45 games, one point up on Humboldt’s Jacob Strizzi.

Meanwhile, defenceman Thomas Ries has been named a finalist for SJHL Rookie of the Year.

The Humboldt product has nine goals, 22 assists for 31 points in 52 games, which puts him in a tie of fifth in rookie scoring and ninth among SJHL rearguards.

Also after missing the playoffs last season, the Terriers earned a spot in the playoffs and for their effort, Emery Olauson has been named as a finalist for SJHL Coach of the Year.

Other local nominees include Terrier forward Tylan Henrikson as a finalist for RBC Community Ambassador of the Year, while Melville Millionaires forward Jadon Iyogun has earned his 2nd straight Most Sportsmanlike nominee.

In his second season with the Mils, Iyogun currently leads the Moneymen in scoring with 45 points in 47 games, while only accumulating two minutes in penalties.

The 2024/25 SJHL award winners will be announced during the league’s playoff preview on March 19th.
