A great three days with the Langenburg Sporting Dreams Lottery!

Hey, everybody! Reader here, and I just want to mention what a blast I had in Langenburg last week, with the Sporting Dreams Lotto (Lottery Licence #LR24-0131).

The money raised through the Lotto, is to help bring a new MultiPlex to Langenburg, to serve not only the town, but the surrounding area, for generations to come.

I was joined by former Mayor Don Fogg, who noted how the current rink has been in service since the late 1950s, and has seen a lot of repairs over the years. But, at some point, it becomes more prudent to replace, rather than to repair. That’s where the fundraising efforts come in.

Fundraising has been underway for about two years now, and this year, the MultiPlex Committee took things to the next level with the Sporting Dreams Lotto.

The goal, which is a five-year plan, is to build a brand-new facility, including a regulation size ice surface, a walking track (which would be awesome for those days when snow and ice make it treacherous to go for a stroll outside), and an indoor community space that can be used year-round, for all kinds of activities, from pickleball (which has exploded in popularity) and indoor soccer (which is growing by leaps and bounds), to volleyball, indoor baseball clinics (before the diamonds are ready to go), and dance.

The great thing is that the new building will serve everyone, of all ages, and help to build a strong, healthy community.

On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, I, along with my GX compatriot Tonya, were on location for three days, ahead of the March 7 Early Bird Deadline, which would see the winner choose between two fantastic prizes – $5,000 in cash, or an NHL game night for four in Winnipeg, to see the Jets take on an opponent of your choosing, with the winner getting game tickets, two nights in a hotel, jerseys and spending money… everything you need to have a blast watching the best hockey players in the world do what they do best, up close and personal!

The Early Bird draw was made on Saturday afternoon, and the lucky winners were Sharon and Jim Rudy of Kamsack.

Congratulations! I don’t know which prize they chose, but I’m sure they’ll enjoy it!

The best part is, their names go right back in the draw drum for the main draws, which will be happening on April 5th, once again at the Langenburg Community Centre.

If you’d like to get your tickets, they’re 1 for $100 or 3 for $250, and once you get your main tickets, you can get in on the 50-50 draw as well. When they Early Bird Blitz wrapped up on Friday, the take-home for the 50-50 was just shy of $15,000. And that’ll keep growing!

I mentioned the main prize draws that’ll be happening on April 5th. What’s up for grabs?

The great thing is that the winner of each prize has options.

The third prize winner gets to choose between a 20-foot car hauler trailer with aluminum rims, courtesy of Remus Ag Ltd. of Langenburg, or $8,000 cash.

The winner of the second prize gets to choose from some fun prizes, courtesy of Ffun Motorsports in Yorkton. The options include a 2024 Ski-Doo Backcountry snowmobile, or a 2024 Outlander XT 850 four-wheel ATV. The other option? $16,000 cash.

And for the grand prize winner? The get to choose between two truck and golf cart packages, or $100,000 cash!

Both packages include a 2024 Temp Club Car golf cart with rear seat option, courtesy of J.M. Choptuik, while one package also includes a 2025 Ford F-150 Tremor from Langenburg Ford, while the other, if you’re a GM fan, includes a 2025 GMC Sierra Denali from Paragon Sales in Langenburg.

Talk about some unreal prizes!

Some lucky folks are going to win big on April 5th!

To get your tickets, call 1-306-743-5177, e-transfer to [email protected], or keep your eyes peeled for Multiplex Committee members who have tickets on them, if you’d like to get in on a chance to win!

Finally, I just want to take a moment to thank Joann McDonnell and all the volunteers who were busy answering the phones, recording ticket sales and working so hard to make the Early Bird Blitz a ton of fun!

I’m looking forward to heading back next month, for the final push before the big draw. Hope to see you all there!

I’ve got my tickets… How ’bout you?
